Chinese tech giant Huawei announced an assortment of new products in the Middle East and Africa. 

Wired2Tech was invited to the launch at the Atlantis The Royal Hotel in Dubai on Wednesday, 10 May 2023, which was also attended by journalists from the region. 

Huawei FreeBuds 5

The FreeBuds 5 has a unique design from what is currently on the market featuring a water drop-shaped design which is likely to turn heads. 

Huawei said the new premium earbuds were crafted to “dazzle” users’ senses.

“Punchy bass, powered by the Ultra Magnetic Dynamic Driver, along with triple adaptive EQ, provides powerful and consistent acoustic performance. 

The FreeBuds 5 supports SuperCharge, enabling 2 hours of playback from a 5-minute charge. It also gives consumers the benefit of advanced open-fit active noise cancellation as well as AI call noise cancellation.

The FreeBuds 5 can be connected to up to two devices at the same time as long as they are running Android, iOS, or Windows.

Huawei Watch Ultimate

Huawei’s wearable have led the market with its long lasting battery life and this is set to continue with the Watch Ultimate which resembles the Omega Speedmaster. 

The new wearable features a Zirconium-based Liquid metal body, making it the hardest light alloy available. Its glass cover is made of durable, wear-resistant high-strength sapphire glass. 

The Ultimate supports 100-meter water resistance and audio capabilities. 

Users enjoy a two-week battery life, including 24-hour heart rate monitoring, all-night sleep tracking, and 90 minutes of daily exercise. 

The wearable is compatible with iOS and Android devices and is available in Voyage Blue and Expedition Black. 

Huawei MateBook X Pro

Huawei also showcased its Matebook X Pro featuring a 13th-gen Intel Core i7-1360P processor which can be configured with up to 2TB of NVME SSD storage instead of 1TB.

The tech giant said the MateBook X Pro is designed for people who prefer an “elegant, lightweight, yet powerful device for their productivity needs”.

The laptop boats a metallic body made from magnesium alloy and weighs a mere 1.26kg.

It features a  14.2-inch 3.1K Real Colour FullView touch display and also received the TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort 3.0 Certification. 

The MateBook X Pro features two Thunderbolt 4 ports on its left side and two USB-C ports on its right and also a 3.5mm audio jack.

Other specifications include 16GB or 32GB RAM, a 60Wh battery, and 88W charging speed.

The  MateBook X Pro’s Smart Conference features offer AI Camera and AI Sound to enable immersive and natural communication. 

Huawei MatePad 11-inch 

The new MatePad 11-inch was also unveiled. It has a 120 Hz FullView Eye-Protect Display and low-latency handwriting input. 

Certified by TÜV Rheinland for Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free technologies, the tablet ensures comprehensive eye protection. The device has added support for the Huawei  M-Pencil (2nd generation) and Smart Keyboard. 

While Huawei has unveiled the devices in Dubai, a local launch has been planned for next week, where South Africans will get a glimpse of the new products including the two new flagship smartphones and the expected pricing.
