Samsung Unveils New Galaxy Note 20 & Note 20 Ultra Devices

Samsung has taken innovation to the next level unveiling five flagship devices in its Galaxy Note range with the Note20 and Note20 Ultra (with enhanced S Pen), Galaxy Z Fold2, Tab S7 and S7+, a Galaxy Watch3 and Galaxy Buds Live.

The Note 20 boats a 6.7-inch flat FHD+ Super AMOLED Plus Infinity-O Display and will be available in two 5G variants – 8GB RAM with 256GB internal storage and 8GB RAM +128GB internal storage while the  4G variant will come in 8GB RAM with 256GB internal storage.

The Galaxy Note 20  Ultra features a 6.9-inch Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O Display and HDR10+ certified 120Hz refresh rate.

It will arrive in three 5G variants: 12GB RAM with 512GB internal storage, 12GB RAM with 256GB internal storage and 12GB RAM with 128GB internal storage while the 4G models will come in 8GB RAM with 512GB internal storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB internal storage.

The Note 20 is powered by a 4300mAh battery while Note20 Ultra has a 4,500mAh battery.

The Galaxy Note 20 boasts a triple-camera system that comprises a 64MP primary camera sensor supplemented by two 12MP lenses.

The S-Pen has also been improved over the previous-generation models, offering four-times lower latency for improved response time.

Like the previous Galaxy Note 10, the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra sport a small punch-hole notch for their 10MP front-facing cameras, which offer dual-pixel auto focus and an 80-degree field of view.

Samsung also  unveiled an upgraded version of its folding smartphone the Galaxy Z Fold2. 

T.M. Roh, head of mobile communications at Samsung Electronics says there is more reliance on technology today than ever before .

“Never before have we relied on technology like we are today. It’s how we are staying connected as we navigate the extraordinary challenges faced around the world. Technology must make life easier, not more complex. That’s why we have introduced five new power devices. Alone, these devices are powerful tools to help you maximize work and play.”

Samsung has also partnered with Microsoft for Windows integration where users can access mobile apps directly from their Windows 10 PC on the smartphones and from the 15 September you can play over 100 Xbox games on Galaxy Note20 series, directly from the cloud (beta) with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, including hits like Minecraft Dungeons and Gears 5.

Samsung also announced the launch of the Galaxy Watch3 which comes with a Blood oxygen feature that will help users measure and track oxygen saturation over time which will be very useful especially with the current COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa

The new Samsung Health Monitor app on Galaxy Watch3 offers cuff-less blood pressure and electrocardiogram measurements depending on availability of the service in the country.

Samsung also launched Buds Live, combining AKG’s sound expertise with a bigger, 12mm speaker compared to the earlier Galaxy Buds+. The earbuds feature Active Noise Cancellation for live and spacious sound quality.

The Note 20 range will be available in South Africa from 21 August and pre-orders opens on 5 August on the Samsung website. Customer who pre-order a Note 20 device, you’ll be gifted with a R4,000 voucher to either top up your purchase with a Galaxy Watch 3 or a pair of Buds Live.

Customers  who pre-order the Note 20 will also get 24 months of Samsung Care+ for R500.

The tech giant  has also launched a trade-in programme for the Note 20 that will give buyers up to R10,000 for their old Samsung devices.

The base Note 20 retails for R25,000, the 5G variant R28,000 while the Note 20 Ultra is priced from R37,000. In terms of colour options: you’ll get the Note 20 in Mystic Grey, Bronze and Green, and the Ultra in Mystic Bronze, Black and White.
