[WATCH] Samsung Unveils Galaxy S22 Series – Availability & Pricing Revealed for South Africa
Tech giant Samsung certainly wowed the mobile world with the launch of its latest flagship smartphones the Galaxy S22 series.
The devices were unveiled during a Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday.
Samsung said the new Galaxy S22 and S22+ and S22 Ultra are flagship devices that power creativity and self-expression.
The new models will boast either Samsung’s powerful 4-nanometre Exynos 2200 chip, the company’s first to feature AMD RDNA 2 graphics, or the top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Samsung S22 and S22+
The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ feature the same design as last year’s S21 with rounded corners and a rear camera bump appearing to merge into the phone’s frame.
The displays are flat with hole-punch 10MP selfie cameras in the centre at the top.
Both devices come equipped with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. The 6.1-inch display or Galaxy S22+’s 6.6-inch screen is built with intelligent Vision Booster technology that automatically adjusts the display to the lighting.
The Galaxy S22 series is also Samsung’s first smartphone to feature new Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+.
The Galaxy S22 and S22+ boast a 50MP main camera, 10MP tele-lens, and 12MP ultra-wide lens
With the Galaxy S22 series’ new Nightography features like the 23% larger sensor than S21 and S21+ and Adaptive Pixel technology the camera is designed to let in more light.
Samsung said the Galaxy S22 is built with an all-day battery and 25W fast charging while the Galaxy S22+ features a powerful battery that can last even longer than a day on a single charge.
The Galaxy S22+ also offers 45W super-fast charging.
The S22 and S22+ comes in black, white, green and pink and will be available from 11 March with a retail price of R19,999 for the S22 and R22,999 for the S22+.
S22 Ultra
Take note, the S22 Ultra is not a note but rather features a rectangular form-factor, curved screen.
For the first time ever, a built-in S Pen is coming to an S series device with 70% lower latency.
The Galaxy S22 features a 6.8-inch , Dynamic AMOLED 2X adaptive display which Samsung said brings everything to life in stunning detail and brighter than ever with a peak brightness of 1,750nit.
The Ultra features a quad-camera array boasting a 108MP primary lens, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto, and 10MP zoom shooter.
The S22 Ultra also supports 45W super-fast charging, so you can record more than 50 minutes of video after a 10-minute charge.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra will be available in black, white, green and a darker burgundy and will also be available from 11 March starting at a retail price of 29,999.
