Huawei Empowers Users to Leap Further with New Mate 40 Series Smartphones Boasting 5G

Huawei has bolstered its product line-up with the launch of the Mate 40 Series, the Chinese tech company’s latest flagship smartphones in what is says empowers users to leap further ahead.

The new line-up includes the Huawei Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, and Mate 40 Pro+, all featuring 5G connectivity and flagship features.

Huawei Mate 40

Starting with the Mate 40, it sports the new Space Ring camera system that comprises three lenses on the back of the device, including a 50MP Ultra Vision camera and support for photo resolutions of up to 8,192 x 6,144.

It has a 6.5-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz, as well as a 240Hz touch sampling rate and an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

The Huawei Mate 40 ships with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, expandable via NanoSD.

It is available in Mystic Silver, White, Black, Green, and Yellow.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro

Huawei’s Mate 40 Pro share similar features to the standard Mate 40, albeit some improvements including a larger 6.76 inches display.

A Huawei Kirin 9000 chipset powers the device

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro features a 13MP front-facing camera which is paired with a 3D depth-sensing camera. It  features a Periscope Telephoto Camera to support 10x hybrid zoom and 50x digital zoom,

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is available in Mystic Silver, White, Black, Green, and Yellow.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro+

Like the Mate 40 Pro, the Mate 40 Pro+ incorporates the world’s first 5 nanometer 5G SoC, Ultra Vision Cine Camera system and the iconic Space Ring Design.

Huawei says the 24-core Mali-G78 GPU in the Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro+ is the most powerful GPU ever seen on a Huawei device

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ features a 6.76-inch OLED display with 90Hz refresh rate boasts a massive  12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The Space Ring camera system array is augmented with a fourth lens – an 8MP SuperZoom camera – as well as a depth sensor with autofocus support.

The Mate 40 Pro+ takes with a dual-telephoto camera system enables 20x hybrid zoom and 100x digital zoom.

The Dual Cine Cameras feature a 3:2 cinema-style shooting ratio sensor. Capturing high quality footage is easier than ever with Steady Shot, while the XD Fusion HDR Video ensures balanced exposure, even when users are capturing with extreme lighting contrast.

It’s powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 9000 5G chipset and has a large 4,400mAh battery that delivers all-day battery life.

The handsets also offer IP 68 dust and water resistance, a choice of both virtual and physical volume controls and enhanced mistouch prevention algorithms. 

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ is available in Ceramic White and Ceramic Black.

The Mate 40 Series comes equipped with the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS).  During the launch, Huawei also unveiled new apps available for global Huawei users, including Petal Search, a search engine with support for multiple types of searches; Petal Maps, a map app that utilises the Mate 40 Series’ gesture control feature; and Huawei Docs, a unified word document service.

Pricing and availability of the Huawei Mate 40 series in South Africa will be announced at a later stage.
