Mobile service provider Vodacom is now offering 5G support for iPhone 12 users in South Africa.

Fifth generation wireless technology (5G) is the latest iteration for cellular data networks.

Engineered to increase speed and responsiveness, it will allow every person, object and device to be connected virtually.

Vodacom has advised customers to visit its website to learn more about setting up a Vodacom 5G plan.

‘If you already own a 5G device, we’ll ensure that your SIM is provisioned for 5G within 24 hours after you’ve activated a Vodacom 5G contract. You just need to be in an area that has 5G coverage to be able to experience the 5G network.”

The announcement by Vodacom comes after MTN in early December 2020 proclaimed 5G support on the iPhone 12 would initially only be offered on its network.

Apples latest flagship device, the iPhone 12 line-up was officially launched in South Africa on 18 December.
