Vivo has launched its new X50 and X50 Pro smartphones in South Africa which it says feature professional-grade camera technologies that revolutionize the mobile photography experience.

The X50 Pro flagship features the Gimbal Camera System delivering super stabilization, enabling users to capture professional-quality photos and videos while in motion.

Using pivots, mounts, gyroscopes, and sensors, a handheld photography gimbal allows a camera to rotate smoothly along an axis, which offsets shaking and stabilizes the frame. X50 Pro’s built-in miniaturized gimbal module applies the same technology to stabilize the main camera, offering an enhanced anti-shake capability to users.

It boasts a quad-lens camera system including a 48MP primary camera, a 13MP pro portrait lens, an 8MP super wide-angle lens, and an 8MP, 5x telescopic lens that also includes 60x Hyper Zoom.

The X50 Pro camera system supports photography modes such as Super Night Mode and Astro Mode, which Vivo says allow users to capture great photos of both city and country scenes at night.

The Vivo X50 series supports 5G and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor and offers 8GB RAM and 256GB storage and are powered by a 4,315mAh battery.

The two X50 series smartphones boast 6.56-inch FHD+ AMOLED displays with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR 10+ technology support.

Hawa Hyath, Marketing Director, vivo mobile SA says the Gimbal Camera System reflects vivo’s commitment to innovating for the purpose of improving user experiences.

“Our research found that shaking is a major pain point for consumers who want to take high-quality photos and videos. Leveraging our leading technological innovation capabilities, we developed a solution to install a miniature gimbal module inside X50 Pro, which provides more frame stability than traditional stabilization technologies.”

Vivo also launched the TWS Earphone Neo featuring a customized 14.2mm Moving-Coil Unit as well as a bio-fiber composite diaphragm to enhance audio details.

Boasting AI Noise Cancelling, the earphones are powered by Qualcomm’s 4th-Generation TWS platform, the QCC3046, which offers low latency, high precision, and a stable listening experience, as well as the latest Bluetooth 5.2 technology with a maximum range of 10m.

Vivo says the  X50 and X50 Pro smartphones will be available for purchase from Vodacom in South Africa starting at R16,999 for Vivo X50 and R19,999 for the Vivo X50 Pro
