Huawei Unleashes High-End P40 & P40 Pro Smartphones

Chinese tech giant Huawei has unveiled its new P40 and P40 Pro smartphones in South Africa through a live streaming event.

Bothe high-end devices are powered by the Kirin 990 chipset built on a cutting-edge 7nm architecture and includes support for powerful features such as GPU Turbo and on-chip AI processing.

The P40 boasts Leica triple-camera system with a telephoto, wide-angle, and ultra-wide-angle lens, and the P40 Pro sports four lenses on its camera array and includes a time-of-flight depth sensor for improved bokeh effects.

During the launch, Huawei welcomed its new Huawei P40 series ambassadors including rapper Nasty C, TV personality Thando Thabethe, actor and entrepreneur Nay Maps, former Miss South Africa Tamryn Green as well as fashion designer David Tlale.

Thee celebs helped Huawei hand out over R500, 000 worth of prizes to viewers, including P40 devices and shopping vouchers.

Huawei says the P40 Series represents company’s vision of the future of mobile imaging technology.

“It is a comprehensive upgrade from the previous generation, embodying all conceptual innovations realised by Huawei. The HUAWEI P40 Series is equipped with Huawei’s most sophisticated camera system to date, capable of producing breath-taking imagery with a lightweight chassis.

Huawei says the devices are testament to the fact that company is unafraid to break the rules and to exceed expectations, and it does all of that in style.

The Huawei P40 Pro is priced at R20,999 and P40 at just R16,999.
