With a plethora of streaming services and endless sport, you need a TV that can deliver the goods and provide the sharp picture quality, bright and vivid colours as you witness even the blade of grass dancing in the wind on the rugby field as the Springboks taken-on the All Blacks in another intense clash, and the LG 55 inch, OLED EVO CS3 does just that.

If you are an adrenaline junkie like me, you’ll also appreciate the striking picture clarity in a high-octane Formula One race as Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton battle it out to the chequered flag. The visual feast is endless.

While tech reviews are great to assist people making informed choices on what they should look out for when buying a new TV, the true calibre of making that decision is the visual experience.

Features

The first thing that struck me about the LG CS3 OLED smart TV is how thin it was.

Svelte, like most modern OLED TVs, the CS3 has an unusually sleek and stylish feel with a paper-thin metal bezel surrounding the screen on all four sides.

Like its predecessors, the CS3 looks like a winner and comes with everything you’d want from a TV serving as your home entertainment centre piece: perfect blacks, thrilling contrast, and rich, accurate colours at every point across the visual spectrum.

Set up was easy, with screws, a stand and easy to understand instructions.  After setup, the WebOS kicks in with a decent list of options on the dashboard.

The CS3’s extensive feature set makes it a great choice for gamers and movie fans alike. It boasts an impressive 0.1ms response time and low input lag, and are equipped with Game Optimiser, which allows players to instantly switch between gaming-related features such as genre pre-sets. It has ultimate gameplay with Nvidia G-Sync, AMD Freesync, VRR and Low input lag.

There are ports for both antenna cable and satellite connection at the back coupled with support for 4K HDMI at 120Hz, and three USB ports.

Display

The CS3 series features new HDR-improving picture processing, a pleasing look, a smart TV interface overhaul, and a wealth of features that will appeal to both gamers and movie fans.

Self-lit pixel technology demands more advanced processing capabilities than other TV technologies, which is why the CS3 has advanced picture and functionality with the α9 AI Processor 4K Gen 6. An immersive cinema experience with Dolby Atmos and Vision.

The TV boasts bright and accurate colours with 100% volume and fidelity that can be seen in the brightest and darkest areas of any image. The result is a perfect black and original colour, the truest version of what’s on the screen.

Connectivity

Like all LG TVs, the CS3 uses the company’s WebOS smart TV platform. It’s a well-developed system that incorporates most major streaming services including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+, Hulu, Max, Netflix, Twitch, and YouTube.

It also supports Apple AirPlay for streaming from your iPad, iPhone, or Mac, and features hands-free Amazon Alexa voice assistant access thanks to the TV’s far-field microphones.

The TV’s intuitive operation, including gesture control and voice control, allows for quick and easy navigation through menus and searching for specific series with the magic remote control.

LG also sent the a wireless soundbar for review and the experience was just incredible. Using the  CS3 with an LG Soundbar work together like one speaker to create three-dimensional concert hall sound.

The CS3 smart TV is a feature-packed TV option, with a great mix of amenities for both movie fans and gamers.
