WhatsApp Stops Working on Millions of Older Android & iOS Devices

Social media network WhatsApp has stopped working on millions of Android and iOS devices running older operating systems, as the company moves to protect its users.

Mobile World Live reports that since 1 February, users of the popular messaging app will no longer be accessible on phones running Android version 2.3.7 and older, along with iPhones operating iOS 8 or earlier.

According to Forbes, millions of smartphones have been affected by the update, which was announced in 2017.

WhatsApp wrote in a blog that because the company no longer actively develops the app for the older operating systems, some features might stop functioning at any time.

WhatsApp has recommended that mobile phones users makes use of the latest version of iOS or Android to continue using the service.
