[WATCH] Vereeniging Businessman Kidnapped Outside Shop

A Vereeniging businessman has been kidnapped at his shop in the Vaal.

According to a tweet by anti-crime and social cohesion activist Yusuf Abramjee, Zaheer Asmal from Fred’s Hardware in De Deur was kidnapped on Wednesday.

In the video tweeted by Abramjee, a black Toyota Hilux double-cab bakkie is seen reversing into a parking bay before Asmal is kidnapped.

Three suspects then force Asmal into the bakkie before fleeing the scene.

In recent months there have been a spate of kidnappings in South Africa.

Earlier this month, businessman Yaseen Bhiku who was kidnapped in Lenasia was found safe. 

Bhiku, an Indian national was kidnapped after returning from early dawn prayers at a local mosque.
