Google Launches Pixel 4 & Pixel 4 XL

Google has officially announced the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. 

The Pixel 4 has a 3,200×1,800 90Hz 5.7″ FHD+ flexible notchless OLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio while the Pixel 4 XL has the same display, but is 6.3″. 

Both the Pixel 4 and the Pixel 4 XL have the same rear camera array with 16MP and 12MP lenses on the back of the devices, and an 8MP on the front. 

The Pixel 4 has radar sensors for faster face unlock and also an improved Google Assistant. 

Both devices contain a 2.84/1.78 GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset with 6GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. 

The Pixel 4 XL boasts a larger battery, with a 3,700mAh capacity, compared to 2,800mAh on the Pixel 4.

The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL comes in three colors, including Clearly White, Just Black, and a limited edition, Oh So Orange. 

The new devices will be released on 24 October with the Pixel 4 starting at $799 (R11,878) and the Pixel 4 XL for $899 (R13,365). 

Google also announced an updated Google Home Mini for $49 (R728) renamed Nest Mini which gets a wall mount, improved sound quality and one more microphone. 

The new Pixel Buds also announced by Google boasts a 5-hour battery life, long range bluetooth and a new design.

Google also featured the Pixel Book Go, a thinner, lighter ChromeOS laptop, redesigned and available in matte black with a new keyboard starting at $649 (R9,648).

Senior Vice President, Devices & Services Rick Osterloh says the Made by Google products are designed to help customers without intruding their life. 

“They’re designed with privacy at the core: To ensure that your privacy is protected, we’ve given you tools to stay in control, and keep your most sensitive data on the device.”

Osterloh says Google has used recycled materials in the making of the products including making their shipping carbon neutral.
