One Killed, Three Injured After Truck & Car Crash Near Vaal Marina

One person has been killed and three others injured, including two children after their bakkie and a truck collided on the R54, near the Vaal Marina.

Paramedics say on arrival at the scene on Monday night, they found a truck on the side of the road with a bakkie smashed partially beneath the front.

ER24’s Russel Meiring said medics found a man lying trapped inside the bakkie.

“Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to numerous injuries and was declared dead. The Free State EMS assessed three other patients from the bakkie. A woman and an 11-year-old boy were in critical condition, while a 7-year-old boy had sustained moderate injuries. The patients were treated and thereafter transported to nearby hospitals for urgent care.”

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
