Lenasia South Restaurant Robbed by Armed Criminals

A group of armed criminals have robbed a restaurant in Lenasia South, south of Johannesburg.

It is understood the suspects entered the Copper Chimney in Starling Street on Saturday night holding up staff at gunpoint.

The group of suspects robbed the employees of cash and cellphones before fleeing the scene in a white vehicle.

Crime continues to plague Lenasia and Lenasia South.

In recent weeks there have been a number of incidents reported.

Last week, the body of woman with her throat slit was found in an open veld in Lenasia South while police also arrested four suspects  on drug related charges in two separate police operations in the area. 

In Lenasia, there were two houses robberies early Saturday morning.

Residents have expressed concerns at the high crime rate and have urged police, the Community Policing Forum (CPF) and elected ward official to address the scourge.
