Man Arrested for Strangling Two Children & Attempting to Kill Two Others in Boipatong
Police have arrested a 40-year-old man after he allegedly killed two children and attempted to kill two others in the Sedibeng district.
The children were aged between 5 and 11-years-old.
It is alleged that the man took his ex-girlfriend’s two children and two nephews to an open field in Boipatong on Tuesday and allegedly tied three of the boys to a tree and strangled them.
The fourth boy managed to escape and sought assistance from the community who reported the incident to police.
The police’s Mavela Masondo said officers rushed to the scene where they made the grim discovery.
“Police rushed to the scene where they found that two of the boys had passed on while the third was rushed to hospital for medical treatment. The suspect, who has been on the run since the incident was traced and arrested by the police a day later in Johannesburg today.”
Masondo said the suspect will be charged with two counts of murder and two of attempted murder an is expected to appear at Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela commended the police and said dealing with crime against women and children remains a priority for the police in Gauteng.
