One Killed, Four Injured in Vaal Marina Crash

One person has died and four others including two children have been injured after a truck and a car collided head-on on the R54 in Vaal Marina.

Paramedics say on arrival at the scene, they found the car partially wedged under front of the truck.

ER24’s Russell Meiring said the truck driver escaped the incident with minor injuries.

“On closer inspection, medics found the body of a man lying trapped in the driver’s seat of the car. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. A woman, a young boy and a girl from the car were assessed and found in a critical condition, having sustained numerous injuries. Once treated, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.”

Meiring said the details surrounding this incident are unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
