Two Men Arrested in Zeerust after a Lions Head Found in their Possession

Police have arrested two suspects for being in possession of a lions head in Zeeust in the North West province.

The duo were arrested on Thursday were arrested by the Mahikeng based Hawks and other law enforcement officials and agencies.

Preliminary investigation by the Hawks revealed that the suspects were traveling from Thembisa in Johannesburg looking for a traditional healer to sell the lions head for R350 000.

The Hawks’ Philani Nkwalase says the suspects are expected to appear in the Zeerust Magistrates’ Court on Monday

“A police agent intercepted the sale by arranging a traditional healer and the suspects were arrested at Shell garage in Zeerust.The animal’s head, found wrapped with refuge bags inside a vehicle, was seized for further investigation.”
