SA Record Another 16,366 COVID-19 Infections

South Africa has recorded another 16,366 new Coronavirus infections. 

This pushes the country’s known caseload since the start of the pandemic to more than 3,020,500. 

This increase represents a 23.8% positivity rate.

Twenty-one more people have also died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus, pushing the national death toll to 89,965

The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng with (71%), the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal each accounted for 6% while Mpumalanga accounted for 5% and Limpopo and North West each accounted for 4%.

The Free State and Eastern Cape each accounted for 2% and Northern Cape accounted for 1% of the new cases.

On the vaccination front, about 26,3 million jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far. 

The NICD says there has also been an increase of 110 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
