Volkswagen South Africa has just introduced the highly-anticipated eighth generation of the iconic Golf GTI and as the vehicle enters the South African market, VW is launching the car in style.

The brand will host an array of launch events around the country and have launched the exciting new #GTI8OnTour mobile game where petrolheads can secure their tickets to these special events.

Steffen Knapp, Head of Volkswagen Passenger Cars Brand says the GTI brand  entrenched itself deep within South African culture, claiming its cult status as the ultimate compact sports car.

“The GTI brand has been around for 39 years and since then it has become an absolute icon, from the streets of Soweto to Sandton, Umlazi to Umhlanga and Constantia to Mitchell’s Plain, it’s a brand that has entrenched itself in the hearts and minds of many South Africans.”

To get entry to one of the launch events, fans need to play their way to obtaining a sought-after ticket to experience the new Golf 8 GTI.

To prove their competitive edge, consumers will need to download the #GTI8OnTour gaming app for Apple or Android and clock their fastest time on the virtual streets to get onto the national leader board.

A good race time equals a ticket, one that will guarantee fans a chance to not only attend the intimate events but get into the driver’s seat of the Golf 8 GTI.

Put pedal to the metal in the Goodyear GTI 100m Speed Dash, get taken on a whirlwind of a hot lap with a Volkswagen Advanced Driving instructor and experience a fully customised car meet that will include local car clubs, merchandise stalls, food trucks and live DJs.

The GOLF 8 GTI launch events will happen in these parkades around Mzansi this October:
