Huawei Launches Nova 8 & Nova Y60 in South Africa

Huawei has launched two new smartphones that is expected to raise the smartphone experience with a bold design, advanced camera capabilities and productivity-boosting features. 

The company showcased the Nova 8 and Y60 at the Galleria in Sandton on Thursday. 

Huawei says the Huawei nova series specifically targets the African youth by bringing them not one but two spectacular devices that are price conscious, stylish and socially on-par with what is out there right now. 

Huawei Nova 8

The Huawei Nova 8 features a 6.57-inch curved OLED display with an under-display fingerprint sensor. 

Under the hood, the Nova 8 packs a Kirin 820E chip with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and 90Hz refresh rate, but sadly there is no 5G capability. 

Weighing in at only 169g, the device boasts a quad camera array with a 64MP main lens, 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 2MP depth lens, and a 2MP macro lens. The front includes a 32MP selfie camera. 

The 66W SuperCharge support saves users the trouble of charging the device frequently. The Nova 8 can be charged to 60% in just 15 minutes and 100% in 35 minutes. 

The Nova 8 is available in blush gold and retails for R12,999. 

You can pre-order the Huawei Nova 8 now for R99 before 30 August and get R1,100 off. Customers will also receive a FreeBuds 4i and Watch GT Bundle offer. 

Huawei Nova Y60

The Nova Y60 boasts a 6.6in 720×1600 teardrop LCD display which is  a little low. 

The Nova Y60 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 64GB expandable with a microSD card up to 512GB. 

While It has a 5000mAh battery it unfortunately does not support fast charging is. 

The Nova Y60 boasts a triple camera array with a 13MP main sensor, a 5MP ultrawide, a 2MP depth sensor and an 8MP selfie camera. 

The Nova Y60 is available in black or green. 

You can pre-order the Nova Y60 now for R3,099 before 31st August and receive the Bluetooth headphones and bluetooth speaker bundle. 

Both the Nova 8 and Y60 smartphones come with a 2-year warranty, one-time free screen guard service, free unboxing service at store, and 50-days screen insurance.

Huawei also announced its collaboration with sneaker brand Bathu and another Huawei Joburg Day with 947 collab, for their event in October.
