New Nokia phones bring technology that is built to last

HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones has announced three new phones the Nokia XR20, Nokia C30, Nokia 6310 and a new audio portfolio.

The day also marked the biggest Nokia accessory launch to date, with new lifestyle audio products streamlined into four distinct lines – Go, Micro, Comfort and Clarity.

Florian Seiche, CEO, HMD Global says the company is tapping into consumer pain points around durability and longevity. 

“We did a global trend report8 and found that 73% of consumers want to keep their phone for longer and would if their devices were maintained over time. At HMD, we are empowering people to avoid early device replacement and encouraging a more sustainable consumption through our longevity promises. “

Nokia XR20

The Nokia XR20 features a Nordic design that the company says it built for both consumers and enterprises.

Extreme temperatures, 1.8m drops, 1h under water and more, the new Nokia XR20 is built for conditions far harsher than the rough and tumble of everyday life. 

Featuring one of the strongest of screens for extra peace of mind: Corning Gorilla Glass Victus – it’s amongst the toughest of glass out there. 

The Nokia XR20 features  4GB RAM + 64GB storage configuration. The phone also comes in a 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. On the colour options part, there are Granite and Ultra Blue shades to choose from.

The Nokia XR20 has a 48MP+13MP dual camera with ZEISS Optics, OZO spatial audio and innovative imaging solutions. The all-new SpeedWarp mode lets you capture a whole lot of adventure in a compact, exciting montage. Pushing the boundaries of the mid-range, it also comes with 5G speeds, 15W wireless charging.

In addition to the existing X-series longevity promises, the Nokia XR20 comes with four years of monthly security updates, and three years OS upgrades. 

Nokia C30

The new Nokia C30 is a hero of the popular C-series. It comes with the largest battery and biggest screen yet on a Nokia smartphone. 

The Nokia C30, has 2GB + 32GB, 3GB + 32GB, and 3GB + 64GB configurations and comes in Green and White. 

The dual-SIM (Nano) Nokia C30 runs on Android 11 (Go edition) and features a 6.82-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop-style notch. The phone is powered by an octa-core Unisoc SC9863A SoC, along with up to 3GB of RAM. It comes with a dual rear camera setup that houses a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The phone also carries a 5-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front.

The Nokia C30 has up to 64GB of onboard storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB). Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light, and a proximity sensor. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Nokia C30 packs a 6,000mAh battery that supports 10W wired charging. 

Nokia 6310

The Nokia 6310 is a classic reimagined bringing advanced accessibility, optimised ergonomics, and battery for weeks, it honours everything that Nokia phones stand for and yes – it still has Snake.

With accessibility at its core, the refreshed larger push buttons and ample display make screen time more effortless and enjoyable. The new zoomed-in menus and larger font options improve readability and text messages can be listened to for ease of use.

The Nokia 6310 features a 2.80-inch display and comes with 16MB of RAM. 

The phone packs 8MB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Nokia 6310 (2021) packs a 0.3-megapixel primary camera on the rear, runs Series 30+ and is powered by a 1150mAh.

The Nokia 6310  is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) mobile that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Micro-USB and FM.

Nokia has also introduced a revamped audio portfolio streamlined into four new, distinct lines – Go, Micro, Comfort and Clarity – each range brings maximum value via unique propositions.

Nokia Clarity Earbuds Pro

The new Nokia Clarity Earbuds Pro give high performance sound with build quality and battery life that can keep up. The powerful combination of dual mic environment noise cancellation (ENC), Qualcomm cVc, and active noise cancellation (ANC) captures and eliminates background noise. 

Nokia has also forged two new partnerships with Spotify and ExpressVPN 

Spotify will give Nokia smartphone owners access to 70 million tracks and 2.6 million podcasts out of the box while offering added reassurance against malware, ExpressVPN will be available on all new Nokia smartphones in selected markets with a 30-day free trial. 

Pricing and availability 

  • The Nokia XR20 will be available in Ultra Blue and Granite colour options and comes in 4/64GB and 6/128GB configurations. Local pricing, variants and availability will be shared in-market at a later stage
  • The Nokia C30 will be available in Green and White colour options and comes in 2/32GB, 3/32GB and 3/64GB configurations. Local pricing, variants and availability will be shared in-market at a later stage
  • The Nokia 6310 will be available in Dark Green, Yellow, Black. Local pricing, variants and availability will be shared in-market at a later stage
