#WorldHijabDay: Dressed Not Oppressed
Al Jama-ah party has voiced its support for World Hijab Day and women who face challenges donning the hijab.
Celebrated throughout the globe on 1 February, the theme for this year is “Dressed Not Oppressed” to debunk the general view that Muslim women who wear hijab are in fact oppressed.
Al Jama-ah said the hijab merely represents a woman’s submission to her Creator and the connection to her faith.
“It is however sad that some government’s view hijab wearing women as a threat to their country’s political system.”
Events were held across the world celebrating a women’s right to choose what she wears, and promoting tolerance and respect for the personal and religious beliefs of others.
