[WATCH] Son of Businessman Kidnapped in Benoni
There has been another kidnapping, this time in Benoni, east of Johannesburg.
In a video being circulated on social media on Friday, a criminal allegedly pretending to be a car guard is seen with another suspect accosting a Muslim man as he gets out of his car in the business district.
The duo then forced the victim into a double cab bakkie before driving off.
It is believed that the man is the son of a local business owner in Liverpool Street in Benoni.
There has been a scourge of kidnappings of high-profile individuals, businessman and families in the country.
On Wednesday, the Moti brothers, 15-year-old Zia, 13-year-old Alaan, 11-year-old Zayyad and 7-year-old Zidan were reunited with their parents Nazim and Shaakira after a three-week kidnapping ordeal.
The siblings were found in Vuwani in Limpopo.
The police’s Vish Naidoo said the investigation into the kidnapping was continuing, with detectives making progress in efforts to close in on the kidnappers.
