[WATCH] Pakistani National Allegedly Linked to Kidnappings Shot Dead in Fordsburg
A Pakistani national allegedly linked to a spate of kidnappings has been shot dead.
It is understood the foreign national was shot dead in Fordsburg on Thursday.
According to a tweet by anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee the man was recently released on bail.
“A man walked up to him and shot him in the head.”
The spate of kidnappings has risen sharply in South Africa.
Two weeks ago, Police Minister Bheki Cele said there had been over 2,000 kidnapping cases reported to the police between July to September 2021.
Cele and SAPS management briefed Parliament’s police committee on Friday about the latest crime statistics for the second quarter of 2021/2022.
On Tuesday, the son of a business owner who was kidnapped in Benoni was found safe and reunited with his family.
Ml Tahseen Mateen Kardame was found in Katlehong in Ekurhuleni on the East Rand on Tuesday.
