The son of a business owner who was kidnapped in Benoni has been found safe and reunited with his family.

Ml Tahseen Mateen Kardame was  found in Katlehong in Ekurhuleni on the East Rand on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old was kidnapped earlier this month outside his fathers hardware store after a criminal allegedly pretending to be a car guard together with another suspect accosted the Islamic scholar as he got out of his car in the Benoni business district.

Speaking to eNCA, anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee says Ml Tehseen was rescued by crime intelligence & private security company Vision Tactical.

“In a police led driven operation, the victim was freed. He’s now being taken to a hospital for treatment, but he seems to be okay.”

Abramjee says a number of suspects have been arrested.

“What we do know is that five arrests have been made. I can confirm to you also that my sources are saying that an EMPD female officer has been arrested. It is alleged that her vehicle with two number plate was used when the Moulana was taken from his father business in Benoni.”

Abramjee says there have been suspicions that law enforcement or corrupt officials are involved in the recent spate of kidnappings.
