[WATCH] Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman Attends Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as Hamilton Wins to level with Verstappen
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has won the inaugural Saudi Arabian F1 Grand Prix at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen took second and Hamilton team mate Valtteri Bottas third in a race that required two restarts and was marred by crashes that required three restarts and had four virtual safety cars on Sunday.
Seven times world champion Hamilton and Verstappen clashed on track numerous times and after numerous interjections from race control, Verstappen was handed a 5 second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage.
The F1 Drivers Championship is expected to be decided at the last race of the season at the Yes Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Verstappen and Hamilton are neck on neck with 369.5 points each ahead of the title decider, however Verstappen, leads 9-8 on wins meaning that the Dutch 24-year-old will be champion if neither score another point.
Mercedes leads Red Bull by 587.5 points to 559.5 in the constructors championship.
The exhilarating Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was was also attended by Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman.
The Crown Prince was accompanied by Bahraini Crown Prince Shiekh Slman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Prince Muhammad was welcomed upon his arrival by Minister of Sports Prince AbdulAziz Bin Turki AlFaisal.
