[WATCH] Alert CIT Guard Foils Attack from Criminal

A cash in transit guard has been praised for being alert and taking action after he was accosted by an unknown criminal.

In the undated video widely circulated on social media, the guard is seen standing outside a store opposite an ATM presumably waiting for his colleague to collect the cash.

A short while later, a suspect walks through the ATM cubicle and lunges towards the Fidelity guard allegedly trying to grab his weapon.

The alert guard quickly takes action avoiding the suspect before shooting him while bystanders run for cover.

It is unclear if the suspect was killed.

Cash in transit vehicles have been targeted on an almost daily basis with the Cash-In-Transit Association of SA (Citasa) revealing that more then 50 cash-in-transit heists have been reported in the last two months.
