Traffic to be Affected as NUM Members Protest at Eskom’s Megawatt Park

The Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) says traffic will be affected on Maxwell Drive in Sunninghill due to protest action by the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM).

The protest is expected to take place at Eskom’s offices on Saturday.

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) say the protest is part of a rolling programme of mass action directed to stopping the privatization of Eskom.

According to the Num, hundreds of its members, Cosatu affiliates and the South African Communist Party (SACP) coal truck owners and community members will converge at Megawatt Park.

The JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar said motorists should exercise caution.

“Buses will drop of protestors outside of Eskom in Megawatt Park where the protest will take place from approximately 10am up until 1pm.”
