Three Killed, Two Seriously Injured in Head-On Collision Near Potchefstroom

Two men and one woman have been killed and two others seriously injured in a in a head-on collision between two vehicles on the R53 near Potchefstroom. 

Paramedics say on arrival at the scene on Saturday, they found both vehicles on the side of the road. 

ER24’s Ross Campbell said both male drivers were found to have suffered fatal injuries and were  declared dead on arrival by Provincial Services.

Campbell said the 28-year-old woman died while being transported to hospital 

“The front passenger of the Polo was found entrapped in the wreckage and the Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to extract him. He was in a critical condition. Two male occupants were found in the back of the Polo with serious injuries. Provincial Services as well as the other private service on scene treated and transported these patients to hospital for further care.

Campbell said police were on scene for further investigations.
