Three Home Affairs Officials Arrested for Processing Fake Passports for Foreign Nationals Using South Africans Details
Three Home Affairs officials have been arrested for fraud and corruption after they were caught processing fake passports for foreign nationals
The Hawks together with Home Affairs Counter Corruption members handcuffed the three officials on Tuesday.
Police say investigations revealed that the trio were using South African citizens details together with the photo of the foreign national for the fraudulent passport.
The police’s Simphiwe Mhlongo said fraud and corruption cases were reported at police stations and the dockets allocated to the Hawks for further investigation.
“It is alleged that Zime Shange (34), Nomthandazo Mboyana (43) and Judith Zuma (44) were processing fraudulent passports for foreign nationals. They were allegedly receiving payments of up to R3,000 per document.”
Mhlongo said the accused appeared in the Durban Magistratesā Court on Tuesday where Shange was released on R3,000 bail, Mboyana on warning and Zuma on R6,000 bail.
The case was postponed to 11 February 2022.
