Suspects Nabbed with Drugs Worth Over R6 Million from Mozambique

Three men have been nabbed by the Empangeni Task Team with drugs worth over six million rand in KwaZulu-Natal.

Police say they received information about the bust and handcuffed trio the at the Nseleni off-ramp on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala says the suspects are aged between 27 and 40 years old.

“Police received intelligence with regards to the suspects who were transporting drugs from Mozambique. The vehicle with three occupants was spotted and it was stopped for a search to be conducted. Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered 23 bags of heroin hidden in the bin of the bakkie. Each bag weighed 2kg and the estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R6.9 million.

The suspects appeared in the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
