Samsung Unveils Galaxy Note 9, Watch & Galaxy Home Smart Speaker
Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Note 9 calling it a game-changer offering its signature S Pen and larger display to empower the digital transformation of enterprise customers.
The Note 9 launched on Thursday, features a 6.4-inch quad HD Super AMOLED “Infinity Display”, the largest in a Galaxy device, 83% screen, dual 12-megapixel camera, Snapdragon 845 processor, 128GB storage with 6GB Ram or 512GB with 8GB RAM and will support a 512GB microSD card.
The Note 9 has a 4,000mAh battery which Samsung says is the largest-ever on a flagship Galaxy phone, In addition, the new Galaxy Note9’ has a dual SIM which allows users to use two SIMs in one phone.
The new S Pen features Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) and can be used as a clicker to move through a PowerPoint presentation, without the need for a mouse when in DeX mode. And new customized clicks make it easy to quickly launch an app or take a photo.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is currently available for pre-order with general availability on August 21, It will be offered in Midnight Black, Metallic Copper with matching S-Pen and Ocean Blue with a vibrant Yellow S Pen. Pricing for the Note 9 starts at R 18,999 for the 128GB and R23,999 for the 512GB
Samsung also unveiled its new Galaxy Watch which sports an overhauled design and LTE connectivity. Its set to launch in South Africa, with the non-LTE variant available in September and will be priced from R5,499 – R6,499.
The “one more thing” from Samsung was the unveiling of the Galaxy Home smart speaker, with the Bixby virtual voice assistant to compete with the likes of Apple, Google and Amazon.
The Galaxy Home has full-range speakers, on-board subwoofer, “sound steering” and audio tuning by AKG. It also has eight far-field microphones for use with the assistant.
Samsung did not announce pricing or availability for the smart speaker.
