SA Records 8,515 New COVID-19 Infections
South Africa has recorded another 8,515 new COVID-19 infections.
This pushes the country’s known caseload since the start of the pandemic to more than 3,316,500.
This increase represents a 29.9 % positivity rate.
One hundred and five more people have also died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus, pushing the national death toll to 90,453.
So far 3,026,285 people have recovered.
The majority of new cases today are from KwaZulu-Natal with (29%), followed by Gauteng (22%), Western Cape 19%, Eastern Cape 8% and North West 7%.
The Free State accounted for 5%, Mpumalanga 4% and Limpopo and Northern Cape each accounted for 3% of the new cases.
On the vaccination front, about 27.5 million jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far.
The NICD says there has also been an increase of 328 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
