SA Records 26,976 New COVID-19 Infections & 54 Deaths
South Africa has recorded another 26,976 new COVID-19 infections.
This pushes the country’s known caseload since the start of the pandemic to more than 3,231,000.
This increase represents a 32.2 % positivity rate.
Fifty-four more people have also died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus, pushing the national death toll to 90,226
So far 2,949,209 people have recovered.
The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng with (30%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (22%), Western Cape 17%, Eastern Cape 8% and the Free State accounted for 6%.
Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West each accounted for 5% and the Northern Cape accounted for 2% of the nee cases.
On the vaccination front, about 27.3 million jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far.
The NICD says there has also been an increase of 620 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
