SA Records 24,785 New COVID-19 Infections
South Africa has recorded another 24,785 new COVID-19 infections.
This pushes the country’s known caseload since the start of the pandemic to more than 3,255,800.
This increase represents a 30.9 % positivity rate.
Thirty-six more people have also died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus, pushing the national death toll to 90,262.
So far 2,954,919 people have recovered.
The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng with (27%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (23%). Western Cape 19% and Eastern Cape 9%.
The Free State accounted for 6%; Mpumalanga 5%; Limpopo and North West each accounted for 4% respectively; and Northern Cape accounted for 3% of the new cases.
On the vaccination front, about 27.4 million jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far.
The NICD says there has also been an increase of 347 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
