SA Records 11,106 New COVID-19 Infections & 110 Deaths
South Africa’s COVID-19 infections has increased by another 11,106 new cases.
This pushes the country’s known caseload since the start of the pandemic to more than 3,494,600
This increase represents a 22.2 % positivity rate.
One hundred and ten people have also died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus, pushing the national death toll to 91,561.
So far 3,249,738 people have recovered.
On the vaccination front, about 28.1 million jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far.
The majority of new cases today are from KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape with (26% each), followed by Gauteng (19%), Eastern Cape 11% and Free State 5%.
The North West accounted for 4% Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Northern Cape each accounted for 3% of the new cases.
The NICD says there has also been an increase of 349 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
