SA Record another 17,154 COVID-19 Infections
South Africa has recorded another 17,154 new Coronavirus infections.
This pushes the country’s known caseload since the start of the pandemic to more than 3,129,600.
This increase represents a 16.4% positivity rate.
Thirty-six people have also died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus, pushing the national death toll to 90,116
So far 2,889,994 people have recovered from the pandemic.
The majority of new cases are from Gauteng with (50%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (15%), the Western Cape accounted for 9%; North West 7%,Mpumalanga 6% and Free State 5%.
The Eastern Cape accounted for 4%; Limpopo accounted for 3%; and Northern Cape accounted for 1% of the new cases.
On the vaccination front, about 27 million jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far.
The NICD says there has also been an increase of 184 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
