SA Record 3,658 New COVID-19 Infections, 100 Deaths

South Africa has recorded another 3,658 new COVID-19 infections.

This brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to more than 3,565,500

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has reported 100 COVID deaths in the last 24 hours but warned that due to an ongoing audit by the Health Department there may be a backlog in cases reported. 

As such, the NICD reported 30 fatalities of the 100 daily count over the last day or two which pushed the death toll to 93,551.

The NICD said there was a 9.2% positivity rate.

The recovery rate stands at 94.8%, meaning over 3,380,374 people had recovered from the virus. 

On the vaccination front more than 28,9 million doses have been administered.

The NICD said there has also been an increase of 198 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
