SA Record 13,992 New COVID-19 Infections & 422 Hospitalisations
South Africa has recorded another 13,992 new COVID-19 infections.
This pushes the country’s known caseload since the start of the pandemic to more than 3,180,700.
This increase represents a 31.0% positivity rate.
Eleven more people have also died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus, pushing the national death toll to 90,148.
So far 2,916,297 people have recovered.
The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng with (48%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (19%), Western Cape 10% and Free State and North West each accounted for 5%.
The Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga each accounted for 4% while Limpopo accounted for 2%; and Northern Cape accounted for 1% the new cases.
On the vaccination front, about 27.1 million jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far.
The NICD says there has also been an increase of 422 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
