Ramaphosa Announces that SA Moves to Adjusted Level 2 Lockdown from 13 September

President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that the country will move to an adjusted level 2 of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Ramaphosa was addressing the nation on Sunday night on the latest interventions by government in response to the coronavirus.
The president says the country has seen a sustained decline in infections over the last two weeks.
“Cabinet has therefore decided that the country should be moved from Adjusted Alert Level 3 and placed on Adjusted Alert Level2 with effect from tomorrow, Monday, 13th September 2021.”
Ramaphosa says all gatherings will be limited to a maximum of 250 people indoors and 500 people outdoors.
“Where the venue is too small to accommodate these numbers with appropriate social distancing, then no more than 50 per cent of the capacity of the venue may be used. This includes religious services, political events and social gatherings, as well as restaurants, bars, taverns and similar places.”
Ramaphosa says the adjusted measures will be reviewed in two weeks time depending on the state of the pandemic.
The President also announced that the hours of curfew will now start at 11pm and end at 4am, adding that non-essential establishments like restaurants, bars and fitness centres will need to close by 10pm which will allow their employees and patrons to travel home before the start of the curfew.
Ramaphosa says more than 98% of the people over 60 years-old who have died of COVID-19 were not vaccinated, emphasizing that very few people who are vaccinated become severely ill and end up in ICU or need ventilation.
