New COVID-19 Infection in SA Increase by Another 20,713
South Africa has recorded another 20,713 new COVID-19 infections.
This pushes the country’s known caseload since the start of the pandemic to more than 3,276,500
This increase represents a 30.4 % positivity rate.
Thirty-five more people have also died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus, pushing the national death toll to 90,297
So far 2,975,417 people have recovered.
The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng with (28%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (25%), Western Cape 18%, Eastern Cape 8% and the Free State accounted for 6%.
Mpumalanga accounted for 5%, North West 4%, Limpopo 3% and Northern Cape accounted for 2% of the new cases
On the vaccination front, about 27.4 million jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far.
The NICD says there has also been an increase of 429 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
