Motorists Advised to Use Alternate Routes After Soweto Highway Protests
The Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) has advised motorists to use alternate routes following protest action on the Soweto Highway.
It’s understood protestors blocked an intersection of the freeway with rocks and burning tyres on Tuesday.
The JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar says offers are monitoring the area.
“Traffic is disrupted at the moment due to protests on the Soweto Highway, the areas between Diepkloof and Orlando East where there was protests late last night. There is still rubble and debris on the road surface.”
Minnaar says motorists can used use Chris Hani Road or drive through Dobsonville.
