Ml Ebrahim Bham: “Hostility & Enmity Does Not Allow People to See the Beauty of Islam”
Esteemed and renowned Islamic scholar Ml Ebrahim Bham says as Muslims we can never really do justice to the greatness of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Ml Bham was rendering the Seerah lecture at Masjid Uthmaan Ghani in Lenasia South on Monday.
The lecture coincided with the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Monday 12 Rabi’ul Awwal 570.
Ml Bham’s lecture focused on the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, a pivotal treaty between the benevolence of the last prophet of Allah representing the state of Medina, and the Qurayshi tribe of Makkah in January 628.
Ml Bham says nobody could parallel the negotiating skills of Nabi (SAW) and that scholars use the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah as an example on how to negotiate between people or parties.
“We are always looking for negativity. We are always fighting instead of bringing people together. Nabi (SAW) taught the Sahaba (RA) and us to look for the good in people even if they are non-Muslim.”
Ml Bham says hostility and enmity does not allow people to see the beauty of Islam.
“We Muslims are three hundred and fifty years in South Africa, yet we have been unable to show people the beauty of Islam because we are always fighting.”
Ml Bham says Islam is not about knowing the truth but rather Islam is about accepting the truth, adding that Nabi (SAW) said: “I didn’t come here to curse people, I came here as a mercy unto mankind.”
