Microsoft has confirmed that it will release a smaller, cheaper version of its X Box called Series S.

The company says the gaming console will be the “smallest Xbox ever” when released on 10 November in the US and cost $ 299 (R5,066).

There is speculation that the Series S will only run digital downloads rather than discs, have a less powerful graphics card and therefore be unable to run some games at higher resolutions, and be unable to show off some lighting effects including have less internal storage

Microsoft  is currently gearing up for the release of its Xbox Series X device later this year, promising powerful specs and improved graphics quality in a bid to convince gamers to part with their cash for new gaming hardware.

Windows Central reports that both the Series X and Series S will launch on November 10th, with the previously announced high-end Series X selling for $499 (R 8,454).
