McLaren unveil major partnership with T-Mobile

McLaren Racing has announced T-Mobile as an official partner of the McLaren Formula 1 Team, and as the exclusive 5G partner in the United States, from the 2024 Grand Prix in Austin this week.

The U.S. focused partnership connects America’s largest and fastest 5G network with the McLaren Formula 1 Team and paves the way for McLaren Racing to leverage T-Mobile’s 5G to enhance race day operations, deliver best in class connectivity for hosted guests, and unlock immersive new fan experiences at U.S. races.

This follows T-Mobile’s track record of delivering operational efficiency and connecting critical data for its partners while also creating unique fan experiences.

Partnership

The McLaren Formula 1 Team will feature T-Mobile branding on multiple touchpoints for the remaining U.S. races of the 2024 season and beyond, including garage headsets and the race cars of McLaren Formula 1 drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

Matt Dennington, Co-Chief Commercial Officer, McLaren Racing has welcomed the partnership.

“We are delighted to welcome T-Mobile to the McLaren Racing family. As our U.S. fan base continues to grow, it is great to be able to work with more partners that will help us increase our presence and ability to activate with our fans in these regions.”

Ayrton Senna

Meanwhile, Formula 1 has confirmed one of the sport’s most iconic cars, driven by the legendary  Ayrton Senna, will take part in a tribute run at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix next month.

During his 10-year career between 1984 and 1994, Senna won 41 races, still sixth on the all-time list, and scored 80 podium finishes for Toleman, Lotus, and McLaren before his tragic death at Imola at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

As part of the commemorations and the Senna Sempre (Senna Forever) campaign, McLaren and Honda will bring the 1990 MP4/5B back to life for its demo run at the track.
