The Limpopo Social Development Department has sent a team of social workers to the Moti family in Polokwane, whose four children were kidnapped.

The Moti brothers 15-year-old Zia, 13-year-old Alaan, 11-year-old Zayyad and 6-year-old Zidan were kidnapped on Wednesday after the car they were being driven in was cut off by two others along the Tzaneen bypass before seven men made off with the boys.

The siblings were on their way to school when they were kidnapped.

The Limpopo Social Development Department says another team of social workers will also extend their psychosocial support services to the school the children are attending.

Social Development MEC Nkakareng Rakgoale says the violent way in which the children were taken is disturbing and their safety is of a serious concern.

“A team of social workers will this morning visit the family to start with the provision of psychosocial support. As a parent, I can only try to imagine what the Moti couple is going through. It is very upsetting. We urge anyone with information about the whereabouts of these children to contact the police. Our social workers will be with the family, while we are still praying and hoping for the safe return of the children”

Meanwhile MEC Nkakareng Rakgoale and her counterpart from the Transport and Community Safety Department Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya are expected to visit the family on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the parents of the four children Nazim and Shakira Moti urged the public to come forward with any information that may lead to the whereabouts of the brothers.
