Lenasia South Residents Left in the Dark after Electricity Cable Theft
Lenasia South residents in extension 4, 7 and surrounds have been left in the dark after electricity cables were stolen.
It is understood that a group of criminals were seen tampering with cables at the Civic Centre early on Saturday morning.
Lenasia South has been plagued by cable theft in recent months with many residents calling on the local ward councillor and authorities to deal with the scourge.
In a tweet, City Power says their team is still attending to the unplanned power interruption.
“The outage is caused by cable theft at the Lunar substation . Regretfully, estimation times of restoration (ETR) has not been established as yet.”
Many residents took to social media to vent their frustration.
