Police have urged the Lenasia community to be vigilant following a number of crime activities in the suburb including murder, hijackings, robberies and bogus police officers.

In the latest incident, police say they are investigating a case of murder after a mans body was found in Lenasia extension 13.

Police say they were informed of the grim discovery on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Bafana Ndimande says the motive for the murder is being investigated.

“The officers proceeded to the given address and upon arrival they found an unknown Indian male lying on the street with multiple injuries on the upper body. The paramedics were summoned to the crime scene and certified the victim dead.”

Ndimande says police are also investigating cases of business robberies, hijackings and attempted murder in Lenasia extension 2 after a woman was shot at by a man who allegedly pretended to be a customer at her business.

Ndimande also warned the community about bogus police officers after a man was robbed of a motor vehicle by a group of criminals pretending to be from the Lenasia police station informing him that the car he had recently purchased was stolen.

Ndimande has urged anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the criminals involved in these crimes to contact the police.
