Joburg Water Warns Reservoirs at Critical Level, Urges Customers to Lower Demand

Joburg Water is urging customers to lower their demand to avoid a situation where the reservoirs run out of water.

The water utility says due to the high consumption, the Rand Water Meredale reservoir is currently at a critical level.

Affected areas include reservoirs and towers in Soweto area, Crosby, Northcliff, Crown Gardens, Hursthill and reservoirs and towers in Roodepoort area.

Joburg Water says Yeoville reservoir has also been impacted by reduced supply as well as high
customer consumption.

“Johannesburg Water urgently requests customers to reduce consumption in order to prevent further systems from being depleted.”

Rand Water is currently working on  their  raw  water  pipe that supplies  their  Vereeniging  water  purification  plant resulting in the  purification  plant  not being operational for  a  period  of  54  hours.
