JMPD Monitoring K43 near Lenasia South after Protests over Demolition of Illegal Housing
The Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) is monitoring the K43 near Lenasia South following volatile protests over the demolition of illegal housing.
The road remains closed on Monday after it was barricaded with rocks and burning tyres.
The JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar says officers are on standby.
“JMPD officers used rubber bullets to disperse violent crowd , where illegal structures, illegal houses and shacks was being demolished by service provider. Illegal houses was built on wetland.”
Minnaar has advised motorists to used alternate routes.
