Jamiat SA Considering Reopening OR Tambo International Airport Musallah from Muslim Travellers
As more South Africans travel nationally or internationally, the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa (JUSA) says it is considering reopening the OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) Musalla for Muslim travellers to read their salaah.
Jusa says it facilitates and manages the Musallah on behalf of the Muslim community at the airport under the supervision of the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA),
“Like every section of the airport, access to the musalla is under strict Covid-19 control regulations enforced by ACSA.The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa is currently compiling a standard operating procedure (SOP) that will detail the interventions put in place for the safe running of the musalla.”
Jusa says the SOP will be provided to the airport authority, ACSA for their consideration, in paving the way for the reopening of the musalla, for public access and prayers.
Jusa says it will inform the Muslim community of the outcome of this process.
